As I've mentioned in previous posts, Charles Martin Smith hasn't been appearing in front of the camera nowadays, focusing instead on a career directing films. His most recent, "Dolphin Tale 3D" (2011), was quite successful both critically and financially (worldwide gross of $95 million!). So now comes the inevitable sequel. But this time, not only has CMS returned to the director's chair, he has also made a return to acting! 

For the first time since an episode of "Psych" from 2010, Charles will be playing a starring role. Judging from the new trailer recently seen online, he only has a small part, possibly nothing more than a brief cameo. But let me tell you: I gasped with excited surprise when I saw his face pop up among the returning cast members from the original! I am glad I was sitting down, because I could have fallen to the floor otherwise, deeply dizzy with delight! Even if it is just a cameo, it's SO nice to see CMS taking a break from his "directing-only" career path.

I really enjoyed the first "Dolphin Tale" film, and planned on seeing the sequel anyways. But now that I know CMS is part of the cast, I'm even more excited to see it! Gosh, he looks so adorable too! Still so sexy at 60! Wow! I'm hoping there will be lots of "red carpet" pics from the upcoming advance screenings (I haven't read details of when or where they will be). The paparazzi shots of CMS from the first film's prerelease screening in Westwood CA back in August 2011 are among my favorite snaps ever taken of the man.

"Dolphin Tale 2" is scheduled to hit theaters September 12th, 2014.
